Manchester City return to Premier League action on Sunday as they host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola offered several updates in Friday’s press conference, providing insight into the likely squad selection.

Haaland and Rodri News

Guardiola confirmed that Erling Haaland is fit and ready to start after recovering from the knock he sustained against Aston Villa. Rodri remains a doubt, with Pep revealing the midfielder “may” return for Brentford. Guardiola added, “The first option when Rodri cannot play is absolutely Nico,” suggesting Nico González will continue anchoring midfield during Rodri's absence from the team.

Kovacic Uncertain, Nico Expected to Continue

Mateo Kovacic’s availability remains in question. Guardiola said, “We will see,” when asked about his condition, hinting that the Croatian could be rested. Given his consistency, Nico González is expected to feature once again, providing stability and energy in midfield.

Full-Back Roles and Attacking Options

We predict that Nico O’Reilly and Matheus Nunes will take up the full-back roles, with O’Reilly’s recent performances earning high praise and Nunes continuing to impress at right back following Khusanov’s injury. In attack, Rayan Cherki is tipped to start after his standout display against Swansea on Wednesday — where he registered a goal and an assist — continuing his push for a regular starting spot.
